Sau signs with Drua
The Fijian Drua have confirmed the signing of winger Eroni Sau.
Sau returns to the Drua after playing a key role in their NRC title campaign in 2018.
The 33-year-old will join the Drua this week from French side Provence on a one-year deal.
Drua coach Mick Byrne said Sau is fierce both in attack and defence
Samoa Sevens names new cap
The Manu Samoa Sevens coach Muliagatele Brian Lima has named one uncapped player in the squad for the Los Angeles and Vancouver legs of the World Sevens Rugby Series.
Fuli Faafouina is expected to run out for his first game for Manu Sevens during the Los Angeles tournament this weekend.
Muliagatele continues to put his trust in his three co-captains - Vaafauese Apelu Maliko, Vaovasa Afa Su'a and Melani Matavao.
The team are hoping to maintain their fourth placing for the series as the top four teams at the end of the 2023 Series will have automatic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Fiji men to help the Pearls
A Fiji men's netball side has been named to assist the Fiji Pearls in their Netball World Cup campaign.
The 18-member team will face the Pearls in warm-up matches from March 27-30.
Chief Executive Vivian Koster said the men's team will be the perfect training partner for the Pearls.
She said the championship will be held in May and plans are in place to invite some international Men's team to the competition this year.
Big football wins in Apia
The champions of Samoa and the Cook Islands have set up an intriguing final day in the Oceania Champions League Qualifying Play-Offs with big wins in Apia on Wednesday.
Tupapa Maraerenga FC and eased past Ilaoa & To'omata of American Samoa 8-0 in their second game of the tournament, while the Samoan champions Lupe Ole Soaga side were impressive in a 9-0 win over Veitongo FC of Tonga.
The winner between Tupapa and Lupe Ole Soaga on Friday will qualify for the competition finals, though the Samoans only need a draw to qualify on goal difference.
Third place for New Caledonia badminton team
New Caledonia have taken the bronze medal in the mixed team event at the Oceania Badminton Championships after beating Tahiti 3-2 in the medal match.
The other match in Auckland saw the Cook Islands beat Tonga 4-1 to seal fourth spot.
Australia won its sixth mixed team title by beating New Zealand 5-0 in the final.
Surf tournaments back on the water
The Rangiroa Pro and the Rairoa Horue surf events are back this year in French Polynesia after a covid break.
Both events will be hosted in Avatoru Pass in the Tuamotu Islands.
The majority of competitors will come from Hawaii, and there willl also be surfers from the mainland of the United States and French Polynesia.
