Samoa wins 2022 Oceania Rugby U-20 Trophy

Samoa beat Tonga 8-5 in the second leg of the trophy encounter at Teufaiva Stadium in Tonga.

The Tongans went into the deciding match having claimed the first round in a thrilling 20-19 victory over the Junior Manu Samoa, on November 29.

Introduced in 2015, the annual Oceania Rugby U-20 Trophy is a key qualification competition with the winner earning a place at the World Rugby U-20 Trophy in 2023.

Mixed fortunes for Vanuatu cricketers

The Vanuatu men's cricket team won their opening match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Challenge League A legs against Singapore on Monday afternoon.

Vanuatu won the toss and batted first, managing 144 runs in 41 overs while Singapore were all out after 38 overs, making just 138 runs.

In the second match Vanuatu lost to Malaysia which reached 192 runs while Vanuatu could only get 188.

Guam claim third place in Oceania basketball tournament

Australia has won both the girls and boys title of the recent FIBA U-15 Oceania Championships held in Mangilao, Guam.

The Aussies won the boys championship after going undefeated in the six-day tournament capped by a 75-64 win in the final against New Zealand.

Guam took out Samoa, 78-69, to claim third place. The Federated States of Micronesia (fifth), Palau (sixth), and the Northern Marianas (seventh) make up the other boys teams in the tourney.

Australia's girls team also went undefeated in the tournament and beat New Zealand 100-54 in the final.

Samoa beat Guam in the battle for third, 92-50, while the rest of the final standings had PNG and the CNMI finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
