A Fiji lawyer Richard Naidu has been found guilty of contempt of court over a Facebook post pointing out a spelling mistake.

The High Court handed down its decision after court proceedings triggered by a complaint by Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The post showed a picture of a judgment that had the word 'injunction' misspelt, with Naidu adding the applicant wanted to have it correctly spelt.

The court adjourned until January 5 for mitigation and sentencing.

The Attorney General had described the post as malicious and inviting others to mock the judiciary.
