The ruling party in Fiji has filed complaints against its major political rivals for alleged breaches to the electoral laws.

In a media conference, FijiFirst party general-secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed he has sent a 19-page letter to the election's supervisor concerning violations of the Electoral Act by the three main opposition parties.

Sayed-Khaiyum, who is also the country's Attorney-General and the Elections Minister, claims provisional candidates from the People's Alliance, National Federation Party, and SODELPA have breached election laws through their campaign activities.

He said the breaches impact "the conduct of free, fair and credible elections" which the country is preparing for by the end of the year.

The date for the Fijian election is yet to be announced.
