It comes as the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare got his wish to delay the general elections as his government felt the Solomons could not host both the Games and the election in the same year.

However, critics have argued that the move is a plan by Sogavare to hold onto power.

"This bill is the result of a scheme by the prime minister to remain in power for longer than is necessary at the cost of the voters' right to exercise their votes at the general election in 2023," opposition leader Matthew Wale said.

The PGC president, Vidhya Lakhan, said they were very happy with the progress made so far.

Lakhan and chief executive Andrew Minogue visited the country this month.

Having visited all venues from Saint Joseph's Tenaru to Lawson Tama, Lakhan is convinced that preparations for the Games are on track.

"We are very, very happy with the progress being made," Lakhan said.

"In fact, all the venues that we visited, there is considerable progresses being made.

"All the venues are on track and should be read by 31st of May, 2023."

The National Hosting Authority chair Jimmy Rodgers also confirmed that the funding required for all the venues are in place.

"We have secured funding for 107 facilities required for the Games," Rodgers, who is also the secretary to Manasseh Sogavare, said.

"We are confident that we will have all the facilities ready before the Games."

Rodgers said Solomon Islands 2023 will be the "Best Games Ever."

The 2023 Pacific Games are scheduled to be held between November 19 and December 2.
