Fiji's ruling FijiFirst party has chosen Adi Tema Varo as its new party president.

Adi Tema fills the vacancy created by Ratu Wiliame Katonivere who earlier this month became Fiji's president.

FijiFirst was formed in 2014 by the leaders of the 2006 military coup who in 2013 brought in a new constitution.

The party secured an absolute majority in the two elections since.

The next election is due next year.
