The number of cases has increased by 225 overnight, raising the tally to 12,587.

The coronavirus outbreak, which is concentrated on Tahiti, has slowed its progression as measures, such as a curfew, appear to become effective.

The outbreak hit Tahiti Nui TV which was forced to cancel its news programmes for the first time ever.

All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened in July and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished.
