A spike in Covid-19 cases in Guam has been linked to a large cluster in the construction industry that had previously been identified.

The Governor is concerned at the spike of around 120 cases but, because of the link, they have been able to contain the cases quickly.

The governor's office said prior to this spike, the cases in Guam had been declining.

There has been a significant push to contain Covid-19 in the lead up to the holiday season in order to lift restrictions.

This comes alongside efforts to remain vigilant so as not to overwhelm the health system.

The construction company involved has volunteered to stop work for the next few weeks in order to contain the spread.

Key measures in place include more education around safe facilities, access to testing and to medical care.
