September travel record for Fiji show Covid impact

A snap shot from the Fiji Statistics Bureau shows graphically the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In September Fiji welcomed only 1005 visitors for the month compared to 81,354 visitors last September.

It says the numbers show the huge impact international travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Of the 1005 visitors who arrived in September this year 822 came by sea and 183 came by air.

Most of the visitors arriving by sea are fishing vessel crew.

62 were on yachts.

Meanwhile the Bureau reported 526 Fijian residents left the country in September the majority of them for short term work related trips.
