More Covid results expected in French Polynesian after school infection

More than 20 students at a boarding school in French Polynesia have tested positive for Covid-19.

More test results are expected today.

However the education ministry said the school in Taone, would remain open, with the students isolated.

321 new cases were recorded in the two days before yesterday's official update.

53 people were in hospital, including nine in intensive care.

13 people have died.

All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished in July in order to boost tourism and revive the economy.
