Michael Warren faced three charges of behaving in an indecent manner in a public place, which was punishable by up to a 100 days in jail.

Warren's lawyer Tony Ellis said the offences were alleged to have taken place once in January and twice in June.

He said he had very little information on the charges, but his client would plead not guilty, saying it was a freedom of expression issue.

Under British law, Pitcairn cases could be tried in New Zealand.

Ellis said he had asked the prosecution to have the case heard by 16 November, because his client was currently in New Zealand for medical treatment.

The lawyer said he had yet to receive a response.

In 2016, Warren was sentenced to 20 months in prison on 20 charges of possessing child sex images and two charges of possessing other indecent items.
