A 72 year old woman with underlying health conditions died on Firday night at Guam Memorial Hospital where she had been since 16 September.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero said the death marked a sobering point for Guam, one which they hoped they would never get to.

"These people are more than numbers-they're fathers, mothers, children, siblings, members of our community. They still had memories to make, love to share, and lives to live.

"I know many of us are done with this pandemic, but this virus isn't done with us. With each moment of silence for a life gone too soon, we must also strengthen our commitment to protecting each other and our island," Governor Guerrero said.

There were also 67 new cases of the coronavirus reported on Friday.

Guam now has 2,617 cases, including 680 active infections.

30 people are in hospital with the virus, including 13 in intensive care.

Despite the death and continued cases, public restrictions slightly eased today with the opening of public parks and beaches, although people at those locations are meant to be limited to five people per group.
