The Northern Marianas has confirmed two more cases of Covid-19 bringing the islands' overall positive cases to 33.

Both cases are CNMI residents and were screened and swabbed for specimen collection on July 11, 2020, upon arrival at the Saipan International Airport.

The Governor's Covid-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation said one person did transit to the island of Tinian, but immediately returned to the main island of Saipan for additional testing and monitoring.

The two new positive cases brings the CNMI's current case count to 33 since March 28.

Both are in stable condition and safely isolated at the isolation facility at Kanoa Resort and are being closely monitored.

The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts (passengers on the same flight, close family members, friends, and associates) of the new confirmed cases.

Of the total 33 confirmed cases, 10 cases (30 percent) have been identified through port of entry screening procedures, in accordance with the governor's executive order.
