Hawai'i records second Covid-19 death

The US state of Hawai'i has recorded its second death from Covid-19 coronavirus.

Governor David Ige announced the death this afternoon local time.

Honolulu's mayor Kirk Caldwell told the Honolulu Civil Beat the victim was an O'ahu resident.

The state now has 285 cases, 27 recorded in the last 24 hours.

More than two-thirds of all cases are in Honoulu county with another larger cluster on Maui and smaller numbers throughout the island chain.

At the current rate, infections are due to exceed 300 cases by the weekend.

The first Covid-19 related death was recorded on Monday evening local time and the first case was confirmed in the state a month ago.
