Governor Lolo Moliga has sent a bill to the Fono that would prohibit such products.

Automatic exemptions to the ban would be imported, pre-packaged food trays used for raw meat or frozen food, and packaging for non-food items.

Any person may seek an exemption upon demonstrating that the ban would cause undue hardship.

The bill provides for fines of up to $US1000 for repeat offences.
