A bill that would allow more shooting galleries in the Northern Marianas has been scrapped following a spate of gun violence in the US.

Local Republican representative Ralph Yumul withdrew his bill after getting a number of calls from concerned community members.

The scrapped bill sought to discourage discharging firearms in unregulated properties within the CNMI, by increasing the number of shooting galleries and firing ranges.

Currently, there is one shooting gallery, one firing range, and one pistol range on Saipan; one firing range on Tinian; and no galleries or ranges on Rota.
