Bougainville police crack down on unlicensed vehicles, drivers

Police in the autonomous Papua New Guinea region of Bougainville are warning drivers their vehicles need to be registered and road worthy.

The police commander in North Bougainville, John Popui, said many vehicles were not registered and often drivers didn't have licences.

Mr Popui told New Dawn FM, random traffic checks will be conducted.

He said unregistered vehicles were often at fault in accidents his staff attend.
