Kiribati President Taneti Maamau has appointed South Tarawa MP, Taoaba Kaiea, as the new Minister for Women, Youth, Sports and Social Affairs.

Mr Kaiea was sworn-in by the Chief Justice Sir John Muria in the presence of the President, Vice President and the Cabinet.
Mr Kaiea has previously served as Mayor for the Teinainano Urban Council, Chair of the Local Government Association and Chair of Parliament's Business Committee.
