The Pacific Islands Development Forum has said it will promote towns in the region becoming environmentally-friendly.

The forum's Mark Borg said the so-called green towns need to reflect principles of the green economy.
Speaking at the Pacific Urban Forum in Fiji this week, Mr Borg said a green town should include walking spaces, clean energy vehicles, an economy powered by renewables, plastic-free shopping and eating and an abundance of plant and animal life.
