Residents in Papua New Guinea's capital are being warned to be more vigilant after increased reports of drive-by abductions in Port Moresby.

Police say they're investigating a report of a young woman who managed to escape her captors after she was taken in the city's Four Mile district.

It came days after a man was rescued after he was captured in Vadavada.

The capital's police commander, Donald Yamasombi, says patrols in the city have been stepped up.
