Airports Fiji working through traffic control issues

The company managing Fiji's international airports says it's open to working through issues with traffic control officers.

It comes amid local media reports that around 80 per cent of controllers are taking some form of leave in protest over pay and working conditions.

Airports Fiji, which manages the airports in Nadi and Nausori, has declined to comment on specific issues.

But in a statement, its executive chairman, Faiz Khan, said the company has held meetings with controllers and looks forward to further discussions.

On Wednesday, the leader of one of Fiji's opposition parties, Biman Prasad, said safety at the airports had been "seriously compromised."
