Transport operators in Vanuatu face tougher requirements

Transport businesses in Vanuatu are going to face more stringent requirements before they get operating licences.

The Land Transport Authority said the Public Works Department would not issue road tax fee requirements until their vehicles had undergone road worthiness tests.

The Authority's Reginald Tabi said this is to cut down on the high number of carriers operating without a valid permit.

He said this would also help to collect all the revenue belonging to the government.

All transport permits and road taxes expired on 31 December 2018 and vehicle owners have until the end of March to reapply.
