Air Vanuatu will introduce compulsory identification checks for domestic travellers from February 1.

A statement from Air Vanuatu confirmed that ID checks will be introduced due to a high incidence of identity fraud in past years.

Air Vanuatu passengers flying from Port Vila, Santo and Tanna will be required to present photo ID at check-in.

The airline said by 1st May all other stops on the domestic network will require the IDs.

The airline said they had come across instances of adults travelling on child fares.
