Plans for the National Security Committee are included in the government's new National Security Policy, which has been launched by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.

The proposed new agency will deal with matters such as border, cyber and human security, along with overseeing the security impacts resulting from natural disasters and climate change.
