Former Samoa rugby sevens coach to pay hefty surety

Samoa's Court of Appeal has upheld a Supreme Court decision that the former Manu Samoa seven's rugby coach, Damian McGrath, must pay a $US14,000 dollar surety before his lawsuit can proceed.

The former head coach is suing the Samoa Rugby Union and its chief executive for substantial damages over the termination of his contract more than two years ago.

Mr McGrath's lawyer had appealed on the ground that in the fixing of the security amount the judge erred by failing to consider whether the amounts of security denied the plaintiff full access to justice.
