There has been a spate of vandalism in Kouaoua on New Caledonia's east coast, prompting several services to close.

A health care staff vehicle was stolen and a doctor and a nurse were assaulted.
The dock office has also been attacked, with furniture and computers destroyed.
This comes a week after a school was ransacked.
The small town has been at a centre of a dispute for nearly two months.
