Tonga's police say the record amounts of cannabis seized over the past week highlights an increasing trust from the community.

Police have carried out three operations around the country, inlcuding the largest haul of 2665 plants in Vava'u.

That operation came after a public tip-off and ended with the arrest of six people and the confiscation of drugs, a gun and ammunition.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Sisi Toutai Tonga said the relationship with the community is improving.

"We have to work closely together with some of the community so that we acquire some of the good information so that we exchange trust with the police and the community so that it is very easy and they have to assist us," he said.
