Around 30 new cases of cancer are recorded in children between the ages of one to 13 years in Fiji every year.

Makarava Wilson, from the children with cancer charity WOWS, says the numbers are concerning.

He says one of the main reasons Fiji is losing children to the disease is late detection.

Mr Wilson says they would like parents to take their children to the doctor, if they see them sick, as soon as possible.

He says parents need to monitor their children's health and commit to regular check-ups.

According to WOWS Fiji, the most prevalent cancer found in kids is leukaemia.
