Lieutenant Colonel Alejandro Buniag Junior, who was born on Saipan, took over the post during a Change of Command ceremony last week.

The outgoing commander, Lieutenant Colonel Clinton Seybold, secured $US1.8 million in Army Reserve projects to the territory during his three year tenure.

Lieutenant Colonel Buniag said he was looking forward to working with the Theater Support Group American Samoa Unit and the local people.

He thanked the Army and the people of American Samoa for giving him the opportunity to prove himself as an effective commander.

"I know that there is a lot of hard work that we are going to be pushing with. We are going to put a lot of effort [in], we are going to pay attention to detail and I look forward to this command."

Besides American Samoa, the other three TSG Detachment units are in Hawai'i, Guam and Alaska.
