The leader of the opposition in Fiji says the prime minister has undermined the integrity of parliament by not announcing an election date at the end of the last sitting.
Fiji is due for an election this year, the second after the elections four years ago which saw Frank Bainimarama's FijiFirst government elected to power.
The opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa said the House rose after the completion of the budget sitting this month and it was still unclear whether the MPs would continue to meet or have a dissolution.
She said people needed time to prepare and Mr Bainimarama is keeping Fiji in the dark.
"By doing so the Prime Minister has not only under estimated the intelligence of the people of Fiji but also undermined the integrity of the Parliament as the highest court of the land," she said.
"We cannot afford to avoid public probity and must gather the courage to be brave enough to face the people."
