The Electoral Office has spent the last two days completing the final count of all votes cast in the country's 24 electorates. Just over 7,500 people voted in the 14 June general elections.

Ms Tangimetua said one of the tasks the Electoral Office also had to complete was the check that all the candidates had their proper names next to the final votes they received.

She explained that often a person standing for Parliament will have a different name registered to be a candidate to what is on the ballot.

As with every other general election, It's likely that a number of petitions will be filed in the high court following the Declaration of the final result.
