An over $US30 million airport and road project will transform the Papua New Guinea town of Madang, according to local governor Peter Yama.
Mr Yama said one of his major aims as governor was to see the province return to its glory days and have state of the art infrastructure which could help develop the area so economic services could flow easily and benefit people.
He says the $US30.3m airport rehabilitation has started which will include a four-lane road in a move he describes as a big boost to Madang.
The Post Courier reported the governor also brought up the Pacific Maritime Industrial Zone project which would boost development and job creation.
Mr Yama thanked the Asian Development Bank for their funding and assistance.
