In preliminary results from today's election in the Cook Islands, two senior cabinet ministers have lost their seats.
Deputy prime minister Teariki Heather has lost his seat while Nandi Glassie, the health minister has been beaten by the youngest candidate for the Democratic Party, Tehani Browne
At this early stage the opposition Democratic Party has six seats with the ruling Cook Islands Party having 3, with one independent winning a seat.
A survey before the poll had said no party was likely to win the 13 seats needed for a clear majority.
