PNG govt owes $US2.7m in outstanding rent

A review is underway into all contracts with landlords who own properties rented by the Papua New Guinea government, the Prime Minister says.

Four government departments have been locked out of their Port Moresby offices for five weeks because they haven't paid rent.

Peter O'Neill said there was now a restructure in office accommodation and all government departments currently renting private properties would move to the central Government Buildings in Waigani.

It is understood that the government owes over $US2.7 million in outstanding rental payments.
