Its chairperson Meleane Burgess said she was pleased that last night's launch in Hamilton had a good turnout of locals as well as many Aucklanders.

The Minister for Pacific People's, Aupito Su'a William Sio, gave the keynote address to officially launch the network.

Ms Burgess said the number of Pacific businesses had grown quickly in the province, with Māori and Pacific people making up about 30 per cent of the Waikato population.

"We started back in 2012 with like three. Now we have almost 60 and with the growth in the Waikato we are predicting that we will probably hit about 100 in the next year or so, Pacific owned businesses."
