A former police inspector in Fiji found guilty of a corruption-related offence is appealing against his conviction and sentence.

Timoci Naulu was charged by the Independent Commission Against Corruption with two counts of bribery in 2013, and later sentenced to three years in prison and a US$733 fine.

The FBC reported that Naulu appeared in the Court of Appeal this week, where his lawyer said the prosecution failed to produce enough evidence.

An application was also made for bail on the grounds that Naulu's prison sentence and his non-parole period was coming to an end.
