The Fiji Electricity Authority has now set up and will be known as Energy Fiji Limited or EFL.
The acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the move allowed the company to harness private sector expertise, innovation and efficiency in new ways and accelerate the expansion of clean and renewable energy throughout the country.
He said staff conditions are not affected and that there would be no job losses.
