Rota's Paul Manglona said Commonwealth Utilities Corporation customers were charged a water electric charge of $US3.72 per 1000 gallons consumed.

However, in most instances, he said the charges were triple that of the water monthly service fee.

Mr Manglona said a Fuel Adjustment Charge rate had gone down the past several years but there had been no corresponding change in the water electric charge.

He said because of this a high percentage of customers that were not properly metered were having an impact on the water electric charge.

Mr Manglona said this combination of fees created an unreasonable burden on CUC customers.
