PNG man arrested over Manus market drug haul

Police in Papua New Guinea's Manus Province have arrested a man after a drug haul at a local market on Saturday.

Thirty-year-old Boas Thomas Lau has been charged with being in possession of marijuana.

He allegedly admitted buying drugs in Madang and transporting them to Manus on boats involved in the betel nut trade.

The Provincial Police Commander of Manus, Chief inspector David Yapu, says the drugs are valued at about $US3000.
