A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck near the Northern Mariana Islands this morning.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck 146 kilometres East/Southeast of Rota at 9:14 Monday morning local time.
The quake's epicentre was at a depth of 42 kilometres.
There was no immediate warning issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
