No charges will be laid against Fiji opposition MP Parmod Chand, the director of public prosecutions Christopher Pryde says.

Mr Chand was arrested by police and interviewed under caution in December last year on suspicion of having committed seditious offences contrary to the Crimes Act.

This was in relation to comments he was alleged to have made in Labasa in August last year.

However, after considering the allegation, Mr Pryde has found that "there is insufficient, reliable evidence to support any criminal charges against Mr Chand".
