Eight volunteers from Fiji are heading off to teach in Nauru.
The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations presented the group with air tickets in Suva yesterday.
The teachers are part of Fiji's ongoing volunteer programme in the region.
The ministry's permanent secretary, Salaseini Daunabuna, urged the group to impart their knowledge and skills into the education system in Nauru and open doors for other retiree teachers from Fiji.
The teachers leave for Nauru next week.
The Fiji Volunteer Scheme began in 2012 aiming to give young people work experience and older people a chance to impart their skills.
Volunteers have also been sent to teach at schools in the Marshall Islands.
