The chief executive of Papua New Guinea Cricket says the Under 19 team's two warm up games leading into next week's world cup will allow the players to acclimatise and adapt to conditions in New Zealand.

PNG will play Zimbabwe, India and Australia in group play but have two warm up games, starting with Monday's meeting with the West Indies and then a game against New Zealand.

Cricket PNG's Greg Campbell said the warm up games are important for their campaign.

"The weather up there in PNG is very hot so the wickets are very good, flat and dry. In New Zealand they could be a little bit more seamer friendly, I know in my day there was always a little bit in it for the bowler," he said.

"So I think the two practice games will be used to get that right balance to go into the first game against Zimbabwe but very much looking forward to playing the Windies and the New Zealanders."

Campbell said it would also be important for the Under 19 side to go into next week's world cup with some momentum.

"He said it would be tough but the team is hoping they can gain some confidence, rhythm and experience during their two warm up games against the West Indies on Monday and New Zealand on Wednesday."

"They are warm up games and I know the coaches will be sort of playing with the team, a little bit, not too much because they have had lots of games in PNG but just to get that right balance," he said.
