Reports from Papua New Guinea say police have retrieved a decomposed body from the Defence Force headquarters last week.

The Post Courier reports skeletal remains were found at Murray Barracks in the capital, Port Moresby, but the body could not be identified due to its decomposed state.

The police chief in the capital, Chief Superintendent Perou N'Dranou, said investigators believe the body to be that of a female whose age and cause of death is yet to be determined.
