An 18-year old youth in the Cook Islands has been charged with manslaughter and has been remanded in custody after appearing in court.
He is expected to reappear in court on 18 January.
At his court appearance yesterday no plea was entered by defence counsel to the charge in connection with a 25 year old man's death.
According to a statement issued by the Cook Islands Police, defence counsel had opposed the request by prosecution for the case to be remanded but no reason was given.
