A cabinet member of the American Samoa government Taeaoafua Dr. Meki Solomona has died aged 63.
His wife said he collapsed at his desk yesterday afternoon.
Taeaoafua was a high school principal, a director of commerce, government and community liaison for StarKist Samoa.
A former radio personality, he emceed many public events and was regarded as a future leader of the territory.
He was once a candidate for Lt Governor which was his only foray into public office.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two grandchildren.
