A strike in French Polynesia which has crippled meal services in Papeete for two weeks has been settled.

The central kitchen, which usually supplies 5000 daily meals for schools and other customers, was hit by a stoppage by most staff over pay and conditions.

Radio 1 said a settlement had been found, ending the disruption which was eased by other outfits stepping in to provide food.

At one stage, a single driver was available for the delivery of the lunches.
