Quake in northern Papua New Guinea

A magnitude 6.6 quake hit Papua New Guinea this morning.

It was centred about 83 kilometres south of the northern coastal town of Wewak in East Sepik.

The tremor was 112 kilometres underground and it is not expected to pose any tsunami threat.

There have been no reports of damage.
