Telecommunications issues in Rarotonga continue this afternoon following a fire at the Bluesky Cook Islands mobile exchange last week.

Bluesky said most fixed-line and internet services remain uninterrupted and they are working to restore full mobile cellular services.

However our correspondent in the Cook Islands said she was experiencing difficulty in getting through to both mobile and fixed-line numbers in the south and west of Rarotonga.

Florence Syme-Buchanan also said she has not received her usually prompt email responses from business contacts in those areas.

Bluesky's country manager Phillip Henderson said in a statement that mobile internet services were being temporarily offered through WIFI hotspots until mobile data service is fully restored.
