The airline plans to use two Airbus A320neos on routes to Australia, New Zealand and Pacific islands, whose Pratt and Whitney engines could deliver 20 percent fuel savings by 2020.

For its Japan route, Aircalin has ordered two Airbus A330neos with Rolls-Royce Trent engines reported to reduce fuel consumption by 14 percent.

Aircalin's chief executive Didier Tappero said the aircraft would allow the company to reduce costs and environmental impacts.
